Fighting Black Spot on Roses

While battling black spot once it hits a rose bush can be tough, there’s an easy preventative measure using just one natural ingredient.

Often spotted in bird feeders or given to chickens, cracked corn also doubles as a soil supplement utilized by green-thumbed enthusiasts to stave off fungi.

Cracked corn is an inexpensive source of the beneficial fungus Trichoderma which research has shown to be an effective fungal biopesticide.

Garden enthusiasts have vouched for this unconventional remedy that’s protecting rosebeds from the bane of blackspot: cracking down on the fungus with cracked corn

Apply a liberal amount of cracked corn over your rose beds ahead of mulching or adding compost, to foster robust, healthy roses.
